Dewayne Everettsmith – with Sietta

“…a uniquely gifted singer with hints of the soul of Marvin Gaye and the sunny beauty of Johnny Nash…spellbinding”

DEWAYNE EVERETTSMITH with special guest SIETTA

21 June at 3pm

“…a uniquely gifted singer with hints of the soul of Marvin Gaye and the sunny beauty of Johnny Nash…spellbinding” Bruce Elder, Sydney Morning Herald

Dewayne Everettsmith’s music already pervades Australian consciousness. He captured national attention with his Australian Idol audition and as the voice of Tourism Australia with his haunting track ‘It’s Like Love’, his music has audiences and critics alike pegging him as a rising star.

A master storyteller at a young age, Everettsmith has supported artists of the calibre of Archie Roach, John Farnham and Guy Sebastian, dueted with Australian icon Paul Kelly, and toured nationally and across Europe with the legendary Gurrumul Yunupingu.

Descended from Cape Barren Island’s Aboriginal community and the Gunai/Kurnai people of Victoria, Dewayne Everettsmith’s sound can’t be pigeonholed as Indigenous – it’s influenced by his heritage, but shaped by his tough early years and love of so many styles and great singers.

Everettsmith will be joined by Darwin duo Sietta – born from a love for soul and pulsating beats and production; bred from the madness of the Darwin heat. James Mangohig and Caiti Baker fuse live vocals with atmospheric beats at festivals, showcases and headline shows across Australia. Their unique sound is ambitious electronic soul drenched in blues and hip hop. Acoustic or electronic, there is no other act in the country quite like this Darwin duo.
