Erth’s Prehistoric Aquarium

Dare to adventure to the bottom of the sea! The team at Erth have spent years scouring the seven seas, collecting playful prehistoric creatures of the deep in their giant aquarium. For the very first time, you are invited to dive in and meet these aquatic critters in person

Deep below the surface, submerged below time, swam some of the world’s most amazing prehistoric marine reptiles. Following the internationally loved and applauded show Erth’s Dinosaur Zoo™,the team at Erth have spent years scouring the seven seas, collecting playful prehistoric creatures of the deep in their giant aquarium. For the very first time, you are invited to dive in and meet these aquatic critters in person.

What does a Plesiosaurs skin feel like? How big are a Kronosaurus teeth? And do Kimberella even wear shoes? Our skilled handlers will be able to answer all these questions and more in this once in a lifetime interactive theatre experience at Erth’s Prehistoric Aquarium.

Erth’s Prehistoric Aquarium invites children to step into the action of the performance; each show performers will invite a small number of carefully selected young divers to join them on their quest to the bottom of the ocean, to ‘swim’ with an amazing array of aquatic creatures from bygone eras.

Connecting young audiences to the real science of palaeontology, Erth’s prehistoric creatures are unmistakably ‘alive’ and mostly friendly, in this fun, educational and unique performance that will delight all audiences from ages 5 years and up.

Come dive with us to the historical depths of the ocean and unlock some of nature’s greatest mysteries.

Duration: 50 minutes, no interval.

Age recommendation: Five and above (but children as young as three will also enjoy the show).

FROM THE DIRECTOR

The ocean is where all life began, it’s stories are rich and many unknown.  Prehistoric Aquarium is the greatest adventure we’ve been on yet and we’re gonna take you to a part of the ocean that’s so deep that only 3 people have ever been before (and only one of them was a celebrity).

One of the great joys of making an Erth show is the knowledge, skill, experience and history we can draw from. Whilst shows evolve and grow, Prehistoric Aquarium is unlike anything we’ve done before yet it feels so familiar, a return to the ocean that is totally immersive. The amazing puppets in the show have even left us a bit gob smacked; when we first started bringing them to life the opportunity to have them literally swim off the stage into the audience gave us the most immense pleasure and continues to excite us.

Plunge in, dive deep and swim with the fishes, see Australia with new eyes, from our earliest origins of complex life to the largest living organism in the world. We’re heading into uncharted waters where every two weeks a new creature is discovered in a world that we know very little about. More is known about the surface of the moon than the bottom of the ocean.  What kind of creatures have lived there and maybe even still live their now?
