Flannofest: Time Piece

Tick, tock, tock & tick! The Q’s high school theatre festival returns bringing together 8 schools and bucket loads of talent to the Q theatre stage.

YEARS 9-12 – TERM 2 – JUNE

Tick, tock, tock & tick! The Q’s high school theatre festival returns bringing together 8 schools and bucket loads of talent to the Q theatre stage all in the name of an exploration of this thing we call time.

Since 2003 the Q has produced an annual theatre festival (previously know as Flannofest) for young people here at the Joan – enabling in excess of 1200 young people to create 85 new works under the guidance of more than 20 professional artists.

“I wanted to express how valuable an experience Flannofest was for me. It was as fun and rewarding as it was challenging and stretching. I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed the whole experience. Performing on that stage in front of an audience really reinforced in me my love for performance work and an enthusiasm to be a part of theatre in the future.” Beca Wheatcroft, 2014 Flannofest Participant.

From the Schools Coordinator: For youth theatre that is raw and relevant this is essential viewing: local secondary students and professional artists teaming-up to bring you a suite of home-grown short works. Watching FLANNOFEST is a great way to get Year 9 and 10 students excited about drama and will show aspiring performers that there’s a pathway to performing in a professional venue right on their doorstep. It’s also a brilliant opportunity for middle and senior secondary students to hear stories that are close to them from the mouths and bodies of their contemporaries.
